A lot slower than the first book and therefore took a while to read。 I wasn’t as invested。 It’s good but a let down to the first。

Glass Sword is the sequel in the Red Queen series。 I’m continuing to listen to this series on audiobook and the narration definitely helps my enjoyment of the series, especially as the plot’s pacing in this story was a lot slower。 Although it felt like not much happened in this novel, it was nicer to learn more about the setting and characters。 Everything in this story essentially builds up the cliffhanger ending before the reader begins the third novel。Mare Barrow has escaped Archeon and Ma Glass Sword is the sequel in the Red Queen series。 I’m continuing to listen to this series on audiobook and the narration definitely helps my enjoyment of the series, especially as the plot’s pacing in this story was a lot slower。 Although it felt like not much happened in this novel, it was nicer to learn more about the setting and characters。 Everything in this story essentially builds up the cliffhanger ending before the reader begins the third novel。Mare Barrow has escaped Archeon and Maven and is now a part of the resistance。 Her new mission is to gather other newbloods, like herself, to try and build an army。 While I enjoyed her in the first novel, I was not a huge fan of her character in this novel。 She is dealing a lot from the betrayals of the first novel, but she seemed to take it to the extremes where she would be a little too self-centered and shut out those that actually care for her。 Luckily, this was not the case for the entire story and slowly she returned to the more likable character from the first novel。 I am looking forward to reading more about her character growth as the series continues。There continue to be multiple plot twists and betrayals to keep the reader guessing about what will happen next。 There are two main plots in this story: the rebels on the run from Maven while searching for newbloods and then the planning and execution of a large raid with potential deadly consequences。 However, the characters are what make this novel enjoyable as all of them get a little more depth add to the ones we were introduced to in the previous novel。It was great learning more about Farley as I did not connect with her in either the first novel or the novella, Steel Scars。 After learning more about her, she has grown a lot on me as a characters and I enjoyed her a lot in this novel。 Shade continued to shine in this novel and he and Farley were an adorable couple。 Kilorn was amazing in this novel and it was very interesting seeing his perspective as the “normal” human without any special powers。 Cal is at a crossroads as he wants to find a way to help the Silvers still while being on the run with the Reds and assisting in their cause。 In addition to getting to know more about the established characters, it was also great to learn more about the new characters, like Cameron and Jon, who I hope get further explored in the next novel。Overall, this part of the series helps the readers to connect more to the characters with a little bit of progression in the plot。 So far, this is not my favorite series, but it still has potential as there are two more full novels and a novella left to bring everything together。 Now that there is a new obstacle presented at the end of this novel, it will be interesting to see what happens next。 I am very curious to see how King’s Cage turns out! 。。。more

Well。。。After hating the first book in this series for so long, I finally decided to read the sequel just to see if it was any better。 And it was! I am so happy to say I didn't have to drag myself through this book。 It was interesting enough to keep me involved and I actually want to read the next one! The plot in this book was much better, but more importantly, the storytelling was better and the relationship building actually existed! Hopefully I will continue enjoying this series! What a rideThis is so fast moving。 I am really liking this series so far。 After all the types of books like this, this one is great。 I like that the main characters have feelings of remorse for the deeds that they did。 Even though they all feel justified it is not what they wanted。 On to book 3。

I was pleasantly surprised this was much better than the first book in the series。 If you decided to not continue on Mare’s journey after the first book, maybe this is a sign to pick up the Glass Sword

I loved this just as much as the first。 I interacted with it and would even yell out commands to the characters as well。 I really feel the internal conflict with Mare and some of the decisions she is forced to make。 I can't imagine anyone making any other different choices given the same situation。 I'm really looking forward to book 3 to find out what exactly happens。 I'm really waiting for her and Cal to just make the call to be together。 They are perfect for each other。 The way he protects her I loved this just as much as the first。 I interacted with it and would even yell out commands to the characters as well。 I really feel the internal conflict with Mare and some of the decisions she is forced to make。 I can't imagine anyone making any other different choices given the same situation。 I'm really looking forward to book 3 to find out what exactly happens。 I'm really waiting for her and Cal to just make the call to be together。 They are perfect for each other。 The way he protects her, even though they say it's a distraction honestly the way they safe guard each other I couldn't picture her with anyone else。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Is was interesting to seeing how mare changed because of her past experiences。 It was sad when she was starting to turn a bit dark but it’s realistic based on her experiences。 She realized what happened in the end and she is starting to realize what her choices did to the world。 We👏Love👏Character👏Development👏 Cant wait to see what happens at the end。

Some books are unrealistic because everything is so darn easy and you could trust anyone。 Some other books just keep stabbing you with one betrayal and failures after another like there is no end。 Worst, the main character bears the brunt of everything for no reason。 Just because they're the chosen one。 Poor Mare, all broken in a hopeless war。 It's so frustrating to read, but not in a bad way。 I just hope this is all for good reason。 Some books are unrealistic because everything is so darn easy and you could trust anyone。 Some other books just keep stabbing you with one betrayal and failures after another like there is no end。 Worst, the main character bears the brunt of everything for no reason。 Just because they're the chosen one。 Poor Mare, all broken in a hopeless war。 It's so frustrating to read, but not in a bad way。 I just hope this is all for good reason。 。。。more

Don't get me wrong - I loved this book。 I had a really good time with it! But it still carries a lot of tropes of a YA book。 The beginning was stuffed to the brim of 'and then we were BETRAYED'-s to the point I was getting whiplash。 And, closer to the end, with Mare calling herself the Red Queen? It made me cringe。 Her trying to act all hard and tough really just makes her sound like how I did in middle school when I was trying to be the edgy goth kid。 All that said, I still had a lot of fun。 I Don't get me wrong - I loved this book。 I had a really good time with it! Oh this was bad。 I don't remember the first being this bad! Every other paragraph was written to end in a cliff hanger。。。 *Dramatic gasp!*I don't need 3 paragraphs to tell me what you could show through dialogue or action。 And way too much internal speak。 Bad story。 Bad writing。 Oh this was bad。 I don't remember the first being this bad! It's better than the Red Queen, bu stills very predictable for me; still feels like a royal version of mockingjay with super powers。 It's faster than the previous book, we get to see Cal evolution (and a little of other characters), the revolution and thats all。 It was a bridge book, I hope the third book has more action。 Entertains, but doesn't hook you。 It's better than the Red Queen, bu stills very predictable for me; still feels like a royal version of mockingjay with super powers。 It's faster than the previous book, we get to see Cal evolution (and a little of other characters), the revolution and thats all。 It was a bridge book, I hope the third book has more action。 Entertains, but doesn't hook you。 。。。more

This is a really bad rating, but Glass Sword was a really bad book。 After enjoying Red Queen, I thought I would give this book a try。That was a mistake。The main character, Mare, was continually whining, about how she couldn’t help the Reds and how Maven betrayed her, blah blah blah。 She was tougher in the 1st book, which is probably what drew me to the story。 Now she’s just a little lightning girl trying to act grown up。 Let’s not even add the amount of language, violence, and the scenes with Ma This is a really bad rating, but Glass Sword was a really bad book。 After enjoying Red Queen, I thought I would give this book a try。That was a mistake。The main character, Mare, was continually whining, about how she couldn’t help the Reds and how Maven betrayed her, blah blah blah。 She was tougher in the 1st book, which is probably what drew me to the story。 Now she’s just a little lightning girl trying to act grown up。 Let’s not even add the amount of language, violence, and the scenes with Mare and Cal。 I had hopes for this series。 Hopes that I could find a good dystopian YA。 I have not found that in Glass Sword and I’m not even going to look in King’s Cage。 。。。more

This book was rough! While I adore Mare, Kilorn and Cal, I found myself really tired of their antics by the end of this book。 Mare was hard to get behind in this book, I couldn't really follow her thoughts and became increasingly annoyed with her。 I also felt like this book was way too long! 3。8Mare didn’t really have enough inner dialogue portraying the emotions and thing she was feeling for me connect with the character, that’s one of the reasons I dislike first person POV。 especially if the author is good at showing and not telling, because with the surroundings and the other characters you can see what they look like, their emotions, etc。 but you barely get to see the mc’s reactions to things or appearance in general。 my friend had said that first person perspective is like read 3。8Mare didn’t really have enough inner dialogue portraying the emotions and thing she was feeling for me connect with the character, that’s one of the reasons I dislike first person POV。 especially if the author is good at showing and not telling, because with the surroundings and the other characters you can see what they look like, their emotions, etc。 but you barely get to see the mc’s reactions to things or appearance in general。 my friend had said that first person perspective is like reading someone’s journal, they are rarely gonna write about what they felt in a situation but focus almost entirely on what was happening around them and less about what was happening to them。I enjoyed the book but the pacing was kinda slow which caused me and my short attention span to get bored at times and it even put me in a little reading slump。Overall it still was a good book and I enjoyed it for the most part at least。And that ending 😶😣 。。。more
